Terms of Service

These terms cover custom videos ordered on whatif.rest ("What If", "we"). By placing an order you agree to them.

1. What you're buying

One custom, science-themed animated short video (about 30–45 seconds, vertical 1080×1920 MP4) based on the idea you submit. We decide the creative execution: scenes, camera, captions, numbers and sound. Your details guide it as closely as we reasonably can.

2. Payment

Payment is taken up front at checkout. Our order process and payments are handled by Polar (polar.sh), which acts as the merchant of record and handles sales tax and VAT.

3. Delivery within 24 hours

We deliver your video within 24 hours of your payment being confirmed. Delivery means we've emailed you a private link to watch and download it. If we don't deliver within 24 hours, your order is cancelled and refunded in full automatically.

4. Refunds

• Late delivery: full automatic refund, as above.
• Idea we can't make: if your idea breaks the content rules below or isn't something we can produce well, we cancel the order and refund you in full.
• After delivery: since each video is custom-made and delivered digitally, delivered orders aren't refundable. If something is clearly wrong (for example a misspelled name or the wrong city), reply to your delivery email within 7 days and we'll fix it free of charge.

Refunds go back to your original payment method, usually within 5–10 business days.

5. Ownership and privacy of your video

• On delivery we assign to you all of our rights, title and interest in the finished video. You may use, post, edit, sell or keep it private as you like.
• We will never publish, post, share, sell or use your video, including on our own channels, as an example, or in marketing.
• We keep a copy only so you can download it, and permanently delete it 30 days after delivery.
• The general know-how, tools and reusable building blocks we use to make videos stay ours. What you own is your finished video.

6. Content rules

We're happy to make almost any wild, impossible scenario. We don't make videos that:

• depict a real, identifiable person (including you), or show harm to one;
• target or harass a real person, group, school or business;
• contain sexual content, graphic gore, or anything involving minors in harm;
• promote hate, violence, terrorism, self-harm or illegal activity;
• are meant to look like real news or footage of a real event, or to mislead people;
• use third-party logos, characters or other material you don't have rights to.

We may decline any idea at our discretion, with a full refund.

7. Science and accuracy

Our videos are entertainment. We base numbers on real physics and published data, but they're simplified estimates of impossible scenarios, not professional, safety or scientific advice.

8. Your responsibilities

You're responsible for what you submit and how you use the delivered video. Don't use it to mislead people into believing a real event happened.

9. Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it.

10. Changes and contact
